Amos Robinson b. 1952
New York, United States

Education
Self-taught sculptor.

History
Amos Robinson has been creating kinetic art, mobiles and sculpture since 2005. Stainless steel is his medium of choice and motion, actual or implied, is an important component of his work. His metalworking and mechanical skills were honed over a 25- year career in the fields of air pollution control and industrial equipment, and a nearly lifelong interest in classic cars and motorcycles. He credits an experience at age twelve at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City as the seed from which his interest in kinetic art grew. As he stood before a mobile by Alexander Calder, the docent encouraged him, “Go ahead son, make it move; bring it to life.”.   Make it move; bring it to life. The idea thrilled him then, just as it continues to inspire him today. Amos Robinson has 25 permanent public art installations and private collectors in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Europe, Australia and China
